Public Health, Parks and Recreation are Natural Partners in

Creating a Healthy Community!

 

This year we have a unique opportunity to bridge the gaps between our two fields and build relationships and collaborations to tackle some of the biggest barriers to a healthy community.

During October 3-6, 2017 the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association and the Public Health in the Rockies conferences will share the Keystone Conference Center! Throughout the four days there will be opportunities to learn together and play together, including social activities, collaborative breakout sessions, and fitness classes.

Join colleagues from Public Health, Parks and Recreation for a conference opening celebration and networking event!

Zuma Roadhouse will play host to the first ever CPRA/PHiR collaboration event where you can enjoy complimentary appetizers and desserts, glow-in-the-dark games, giveaways and meet professionals from across the region working to promote healthy communities. There will be a cash bar and additional menu items available.

Collaborative Breakout Sessions with Colorado Parks and Recreation!

PHiR and CPRA are partnering to host 10 collaborative breakout sessions that attendees can go to from either conference. Come learn, network, and share ideas about health, wellness, and social determinants! Badges will be checked for entry to all sessions at both conferences.

Morning Fitness and Recreation Activities

Join us for three fitness classes during the conference to stay active, stretch, and relax! These activities are open to both Public Health in the Rockies and Colorado Parks and Recreation Association conference attendees this year.

Wednesday, October 4

Fitness Sampler: Come join us for a fun fitness sampler – Come try out several different styles of classes all in one to get a great workout and see what kind of class works for you! This class will include a mix of kickboxing, HIIT training/insanity set, 1 tabata, bodyweight strength training and yoga. (Located in the Lakeside Suite Room on the hotel side of the conference center).

Thursday, October 5

5k: Get outside for some fresh air and join us for a 3.1 mile at the pace of your choice (walk, run, or jog) to enjoy the scenic views that Keystone has to offer!  (meeting location to be determined)

Friday, October 6

Yoga: Come join us on the last day of the conference to let go and breath during this relaxing flow yoga class. (Located in the Lakeside Suite Room on the hotel side of the conference center).


Colorado Parks and Recreation Exhibit Hall Open to PHiR Attendees

As an attendee at either conference, you can check out the exhibit halls by both Public Health in the Rockies and Colorado Parks and Recreation Association during the following times:

  • The PHiR Exhibit hall is open Wednesday 9:15am – 5:00pm, Thursday 8:00am-5:30pm, and Friday 8:00am – 10:00am in Grays Peak I & II and the Longs Peak Foyer.

  • CPRA exhibit hall is open from 1:30pm – 5:30pm on Wednesday in the Colorado Rockies Ballroom
